Career Explorer Wins National Award

November 13, 2012

Move Creative is excited to announce the selection of their app, 4-H Career Explorer, as the 2012 NAE4-HA Interactive 4-H Educational Website National Award. The award recognizes outstanding contribution to 4-H and Extensions through leadership, service and communication. The award was presented to members of the Career Explorer team in Orlando, Fl., at the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA) National Conference in October.

The Career Explorer website and iPad app, funded through a career education grant to University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extensions, was created to help youth get started on the right path to making smart life choices. Career Explorer helps youth connect the dots between the choices they make every day and the opportunities they have in the future. Youth begin with a “Luck of the Draw” card and from there they are in control, making ongoing decisions about their education and future career opportunities. At each stage of the game, youth are able to enter the workforce, get additional education, or explore training programs. They have access to more than 450 careers with up-to-date salary information and summaries for each.

Move Creative’s work on the app included all parts of the app and website development including design, user interface, and coding development. The Career Explorer program was developed in a unique way by developing it as an iPad app and website jointly, in an effort to make it accessible to as many students as possible. Career Explorer also earned the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension’s Excellence in Team Program Award at UNL Extension’s Fall Conference in Oct. The app is available through iTunes or careerexplorer.unl.edu.
