Never Stand Still.

No offense to nouns but we prefer verbs at Move Creative. Verbs are the doers, the ones that get things done.

While we don’t advocate that every brand go and find a verb for their name, we do think that brands should put action first. You all know those passive brands that wait for everyone else to test the water before they get in. Those aren’t the companies that are going to make it today. The successful ones are putting action first, trying new things, learning from mistakes, and then trying it again.

There are also certain technologies happening today that you can’t ignore. We can help you take advantage of those technologies, whether they be mobile, iPad, traditional web, social media, or even print.  Separating the trendy from the useful is what we excel at.

Move is led by Jeff Abele, who has 15 years of experience in the digital space helping hundreds of brands move the needle. Jeff has served as the Director of Internet Operations for the UNL Athletic Department, the Director of Product Marketing for web startup JumpTV, and most recently as the Director of Design for Lincoln-based ad agency Snitily Carr. At Snitily Carr, he led a team of 10 designers and developers on print and web projects for some of the region’s top brands.

We would love the chance to work with your business and prove how our focused approach can help you move ahead.

Move Debuts Photo-Heavy Valley County Site

Valley County is one of Nebraska’s hidden gems, with miles of streams, big lakes and rolling sandhills. Move Creative is excited to play a part in future excursions to the region with the release of the new VisitValleyCounty.com. The site features full-frame images of the county on every page to showcase the beautiful scenery of the region. It also plays homage to the history of the region through the use of textures and other historical embilishments.

The site was built on the WordPress platform giving the Valley County Tourism staff full control over the site, including background images, menus and all text. This control will allow Valley County to update the site seasonally and highlight festivals and events.

Move Creative handled the design, development and copywriting for the site.

Please check out the site at VisitValleyCounty.com.

Career Explorer Game iPad App & Website Launched

Move Creative has rolled out a simulation game for UNL Extensions and Nebraska 4-H that aims to show youth the value of education in career options.  The app is titled Career Explorer and is available for free in the iPad app store.  To be cost-effective, the app was built to work in both an app setup and in all web browsers at careerexplorer.unl.edu with no difference in functionality.

The app starts with a luck card that helps show students that even if they aren’t given the best opportunities in life, they can still find the career they wish for through proper education.

Once a student selects one of the 450+ careers they can view detailed salary, working conditions and education requirements for that career. They can then see what that salary means on a monthly basis when combined with typical cost of living figures.  The student can adjust the cost of living to see how changes to their entertainment budget, for example, can affect their overall monthly budget.

At the conclusion of the app they can have the results sent to them, including tips on what steps to take to make that career a reality.

Huskers Illustrated Vaults into the App Store

Huskers Illustrated approached Move about finding a unique way to showcase its 30 years of magazine covers, as well as showcase photography from Nebraska’s upcoming 2011 Big Ten debut season. What resulted is an iPad app called the HI Vault that can be found here on iTunes (launch price $1.99).  The app features more than 500 covers with captions that give more detail on the cover photo or what went on in Husker history that week. In addition, beautiful photos from each 2011 game will be displayed in a format that showcases the high quality of the iPad. The app also features a built-in web browser to view Huskers Illustrated and keep up with the latest in recruiting and Husker news. First National Bank sponsored the 2011 app and showcases their new commercial and a new game day promotion.

State Fair iPad App Doubles as Unique Kiosk

Move Creative had the unique challenge of creating seven kiosks for the Nebraska State Fair that all ran the same publicly-available and free iPad app that is now available in the app store for personal iPad usage.  Move Creative built this app to accomodate both the casual fair goer, who has just a few minutes to spare between activities, and the experience iPad user at home, who has plenty of time to curl up on their couch and look up results from multiple events.  UNL Extensions approached Move Creative to develop this unique app, which allowed them to be cost-conscious while delivering State Fair results in a unique format throughout the state.

The app features a home page with barn wood, the 2011 State Fair logo and a color scheme and font reminiscent of classic fairs and carnivals.  The user is encouraged to watch a promotional 4-H video or start their experience by browsing the 4-H schedule, maps, or even news from multiple 4-H and State Fair-related Twitter feeds.  The highlight of the app is the results search and browsing.  A user can search through the 16,000+ results by name, by city, or by event.  In addition, users can browse through every Nebraska counties’ results after selecting the county from an interactive Nebraska map.  Users can also browse through the more than 800 different events and competitions to see all of the award winners for a particular event.

The app is rounded out with a photo and video gallery.  The photo gallery features hundreds of photos from each of the 4-H disciplines, plus general photos that capture the ambiance of the 2011 fair.

Kiosk and home users are encourage to register their email address and zip code to receive additional information about 4-H and it’s many programs.

The kiosks themselves are extremely portable and allowed 4-H staff members the ultimate flexibility in moving them around the buildings in Grand Island.  Requiring nothing more than a single plugin, the kiosks are lightweight and feature a locked container for the iPad that also prevents users from clicking the home button and keeping them inside the app at all times.

August is iPad Month at Move Creative

Move is releasing not one but three iPad apps for clients in August.  The first will double as a kiosk for the Nebraska State Fair and was produced for UNL Extensions.  The second is a career app game that will be available for both the iPad and the web.  Finally, Move has partnered with Huskers Illustrated to produce a special iPad app which will hit before the start of the 2011 season.  Can’t wait to share all of these projects with you.

S.S. Phonics Sets Sail

As you may have noticed, we love the simplicity and beauty of single-page sites.  We recently launched a site for the S.S. Phonics, which is a teacher-to-teacher, video-based learning system for phonics strategies, delivered in a one-page setup.

The site uses a submarine to help navigate the site vertically, taking you deeper into the site.  The site shows sample videos and a features a digital download store to purchase and immediately download the set of instructional videos.

An illustrated style was chosen to best represent the underseas world.  VIEW SITE

Featuring a similar interface to the SEC app, Auburn HD provides viewers with hours of on-demand video content, live stats, photos, articles, and more.  The app is $3.99 in the iPad App Store.

The first iPad app for an NCAA conference rolled out a few weeks ago and is quickly climbing the app charts.  Over the weekend of Nov. 13, the SEC Sports HD app moved to No. 2 in the top-grossing iPad apps for sports.  Move Creative designed the interface and assisted with much of the development work in conjunction with XOS Digital of Orlando.

The app features hours of video for SEC football and basketball including full-game replays that are published in the app just hours after they air on CBS.  SEC Sports HD also features live stats for each event and makes full use of the touch technology with lots of touch sliders placed throughout the app for easy browsing.

Move Designing iPad App for Major NCAA Conferences

In partnership with XOS Digital, Move Creative is developing an iPad app for the SEC, Pac-10, and Big East Conferences.  The app centers around a live stat experience for its member schools, but also brings news, standings, and schedules to a highly interactive experience that makes use of the iPad’s touch capabilities.  We are also working on a iPhone/Android version for the app store in conjunction with Right Brain Media of Orlando.  More details coming soon on both of these exciting projects.

Mobile Version of BuildAdams.com

Move Creative has released a mobile-only version of BuildAdams.com that is optimized for iPhone, Android, and Blackberry.  The site includes the majority of the functionality available on the full site, including articles, photos, and contact form.  Even more important, the site requires no extra maintenance by the Adams team since it replicates existing content.

Photography Highlights Build Adams Relaunch

As one of Lincoln’s premiere homebuilders, Adams Custom Homes needed a site that matched its home quality.  Move built a site for Adams using the WordPress Content Management System for easy updating of photos and text by the Adams team.  Featured on the site is large photography, including an indexed photo gallery that makes it convenient for potential home owners looking for that specific feature.  Check it out at buildadams.com.

AppEveryDay.com Launches for Small Businesses

Move Creative knows the challenges today’s small businesses face and the enormity of options available on the web.  There are thousands of web applications available to help you streamline your business.  But finding them is often the most difficult task of all.  We are aiming to bring clarity to that with the launch of AppEveryDay.com which focuses on a single review of a web application every single day.  No sifting through hundreds of new articles, we uncover the one that is pertinent to you and let you know why you should, or shouldn’t, be using it.  Check it out at www.appeveryday.com and on Twitter.
